Why Use Custom Workbenches?
One of the most important areas of adjustability on a custom industrial work bench is height. Most adjustable work benches can go from slightly below average tabletop height to well above that, but what if you need your ergonomic work bench to adjust to a lower level?
Average height levels are important on an industrial work bench because they’re, well, average.
Most people will be able to work comfortably on most projects in this height range, perhaps needing an adjustment of only a few inches. And higher workstation levels are useful for standing operations, or tasks that require the use of overhead hanging components (air hoses, moveable lights, etc.).
However, there are multiple instances in which the work surface needs to be much lower than average to achieve maximum efficiency.
You may, for example, need to work on the top or side surfaces of an item, and setting it on the floor would make it too low for safe, comfortable long-term or repeated bending or crouching.
Being able to position your ergonomic work bench’s surface a few feet above the ground, with the item in question on top, will allow for easy, back-pain free work. Perhaps you need your industrial work bench at a lower height to accommodate the use of a particular tool with a limited range of efficient usability.
Many tools and machine-shop devices are restricted by wire, tube or cable lengths or range of motion limitations, and some are too heavy or bulky to use effectively at standard height.
With your adjustable industrial work bench at a lower level, you can more easily access and implement these machines into your process with far less potential for accidents and injuries. Another possibility is that those using the workstation may just need it lower.
If you’re using your ergonomic work bench in a classroom setting, for example—they’re great for arts and crafts—young students/children may only be able to reach a limited height, so the lower the work surface, the better. These are just a few examples, and surely you can think of cases specific to your workplace where a lower work bench height would be beneficial.
Safety is, of course, a primary concern in any work setting, and proper height adjustment for your industrial work bench(es) is a key safety factor.
Too low, and constant bending and crouching will lead to back pain and lowered productivity. Too high, and there’s a strong possibility of insufficient reach or a less-than-ideal grip which can lead to a dropping injury or accident and damage to equipment, tools, or products. With a custom industrial work bench that can reach all heights high, low, and in between, you can ensure safe, comfortable, pain-free and—perhaps best of all—efficient workspaces for all who use them in your operation.
